Parent Recognition Night

La Familia Parent Recognition Night invitation

Hayward Unified School District (HUSD), in partnership with La Familia, provides HUSD parents and guardians with the opportunity to develop leadership and advocacy skills while supporting parent engagement and the academic success of HUSD students.

The Parent Ambassador program helps to increase the district’s capacity to build a community of leaders that support outreach to parents and families, refers and links youth and their families in the HUSD program to health services and other school site programs and resources.

The Ambassadors are a representative body that acts as a liaison between the district and the parent community with an overall goal of supporting the educational success of all students and promoting parent voice.

On Monday, June 5, 2017, the Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) hosted the 1st Annual Parent Recognition Night. They awarded over 80 parents across the following programs who participated in the Loving Solution, Parent Project, Parent Ambassadors, and Promoters Program.

This year the HUSD’s Parent University Program has retained 26 Parent Ambassadors, who have served over 1,000 volunteers’ hours in the district. Furthermore, this program has increased participation rates by 300% since last year.

Thank you to all the parent engagement staff that supported the parent engagement work this year. Thank you to the district’s partners Hayward Promise Neighborhood (HPN), La Familia, Tiburcio Vasquez and Alameda Office of Education (ACOE).
